Kahawai are tremendous fighters on fly-fishing tackle

Found only in New Zealand and Australia. Similar to trout in shape, but no relation. Very lively fighting fish, spectacular on light tackle. Fished on spinning gear, bait tackle and saltwater fly.
Average size: 40-50cm, reaching 70cm. Weight to over 8kg (17lb)
